Passing and Pivoting Teaching Progression

    I make sure all my players can finish using front and back pivot step-throughs at our very first practice. It helps start learning about footwork (and what a travel is) from a fun place (shooting layups. We then go 1v1 starting from the block with no dribble allowed to teach fakes and gaining separation for finishes. Next practice, I then do 3v3 circle trap for passing/pivoting under pressure. Finally I work on stride stops from Russian finishing 1v1 (no chest in front=layup, chest in front=stride stop+step-through). I try to go back to those last 3 drills multiple times throughout the season.
